Michael A. Nelms was born in Baltimore, Maryland and raised between Baltimore and Virginia. He was educated in the Baltimore school system and obtained a Bachelors of Science degree from Morgan State University.

Living in Baltimore City and spending countless summers in Heathsville Virginia with his grandparents, Michael grew up with the best of both worlds.

He developed a love for art in its many forms, and with the encouragement of family and friends a poet was born.
